Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy light green leaves are narrow-elliptical to ovate and are arranged oppositely on the backish twigs. They have undulating margins and a drooping appearance.

Flower: The dark purple tubulate flowers have 5-reflexed petals and a strong honey fragrance at night. They are solitary or arranged in an axillary cluster that appears during spring. The flowers are not commonly seen on young plants or plants that are regularly pruned.

Fruit: The small broad thin-woody capsule has 2 to 4 valves and is downy when young, ripening to black during late summer. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
