Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 24º C. (66º to 77º F).
The seeds require scarification by nicking the seed coat and placing in water.
Divide offsets during spring and place in a well drained media and do not over water.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green long linear leaves are concave with an acuminated apex and tend to arch with age. The texture is soft-fleshy and the surface is glabrous.
Flower: The crateriform flowers have 3 ovate-shaped dark purple sepals and 3-pettals that are fringed along the margins. There are up to 60 blooms arranged in a terminal umbel that appears on a long unbranched scape that is up to 300mm (1ft) tall and appear from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small 3-valved capsule is globular to cylindrical and contains tiny viable black seeds that may have an orange coloured aril. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
