Propagation
Sow fresh seeds in a well-drained soil mix. They will germinate in a shady position with a temperature of 15º to 25º C.

Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings from late spring to summer.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves vary from elliptical-oblong to lanceolate. The apex is acute and the base is cuneate with a petiole up to 6mm (¥in) long.The upper surface is dark green and the underside is lighter green.

Flower: The small expanded tubulate flowers have 4-petals with exserted stamens and a short pedicle. They are arranged in a terminal panicle that is up to 100mm (4in) long and appears during spring.

Fruit: The purple-black berry is formed in dense drooping branches. The seed is very viable for a short period and is dispersed by birds and water making it a huge weed problem in many countries.
