Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.

Note:
This tree is too large for a domestic garden and the strong invasive roots cause damage to pipes and foundations.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to oval and the margin may be undulating. The apex is acute and the whitish petiole is short. The undersides are silvery and the new growth is rust coloured.

Flower: The small flowers have a cup-shaped calyx that consists of 4 triangular lobes and the petals are absent. The flowers are arranged in an axillary globular head that is covered in a rusty coloured down and appears during summer.

Fruit: The small capsules are woody and contain numerous tiny seeds.
