Propagation
Sow fresh seeds during spring in a well-drained media and it may take up to 120 days for them to germinate.
Soft tip cuttings strike easily if taken from summer to autumn.
Note:
This plant is not commonly cultivated outside its native region and may be difficult to obtain requiring a specialist nursery.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark glossy green leaves vary from elliptical-oblong to broad-lanceolate and have an acuminate apex. The margin is regularly serrated. The upper surface is glabrous with prominent pinnate veins and the undersides is covered in whitish tomentose.
Flower: The apetalous flowers have 4 to 5 sepals and prominent exserted stamens and are arranged in a dense terminal cluster that appears during spring.
Fruit: The small woody capsules are densely clustered in globular heads and the seeds have a short viability period. The seeds are dispersed by water and attachment. There is 1.4 to 3.4 million seeds per kilogram. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
