Propagation
Sow seed when ripe or during early spring and place in a cool greenhouse to germinate. The seeds germinate easily.
Take Semi hardwood cuttings during summer and placed in warm protected humid environment. Over watering courses rot. The cuttings root up easily, under ideal conditions.
This plant is resistantto Phytophthora cinnamomi.
Botanic information
Leaf: The dark glossy green lanceolate leaves are arranged alternately to whorled and appear at the ends of the branches. The apex is acuminate and margins are undulating and the petiole is short. The leaves may be blistered from insect attack which causing no harm.
Flower: The sweetly scented campanulate flowers have 5-recurved petals and 5-sepals and are arranged in terminal compound cluster that appears during spring.
Fruit: The green capsule is berry-like ageing to dull orange and appears prolifically. The numerous sticky red-brown seeds self-sow easily and are dispersed by birds. They have a short viability period, germinating between 40 to 50 days.
