Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).

Take cuttings during spring with 2 to 3 leaves.
Air layering of the branches can be carried out during summer.

Culture
When growing Nepenthes ventricosain containers apply high nitrogen fertiliser weekly during the growing period and under glass grow in slatted baskets with a loam-less potting mix of sphagnum moss and peat.

Place in a bright indirect light, humid position and reduce water during winter. In spring prune shoots back by one third to encourage new pitcher growth.

Botanic information
Leaf: The oblong to broad lanceolate leathery leaves have an extended mid rib that acts as a tendril when producing pitchers. The pitcher is cylindrical with a slight constriction in the middle and the base is expanded.

The pale green pitchers are flecked in red and are up to 150 mm (6 in) long and have 2 fringed wings that run down the out side of the front surface. The almost cylindrical rim is coral red and the pale green leaves are small.

Flower: The male and female flowers are found on different plants (Dioecious) and have small sepals that fold back revealing a protruding style. The flowering period may vary in tropical climates and flowers are rarely seen on cultivated plants.

Fruit: The leathery textured capsule contains seeds with a hair-like growth and is dispersed by wind. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
