Propagation
Scarify seeds by soaking in warm water for 24 hours and or nicking seed coat then sow in a well-drained media and maintain a temperature of 13º to 18º C.
Take semi-hardwood cuttings during summer. The roots appear quickly and care should be taken not to disturb them when potting up.
Botanic information
Leaf: There are two types of pinnate leaves. The smaller leaves are found on the flowering stem and are up to 100mm (4in) long and the larger leaves are up to 200mm (8in) long. Both have 7 to 18 lanceolate to triangular leaflets that may be divided and are stiff with an acuminate apex.
Flower: The small tubulate flowers have a short pedicle and oblong recurved perianth segments and the style is up to 8mm (?in) long. They are arranged in a drooping cylindrical terminal or axillary raceme that is up to 100mm (4in) long and appear during spring.
Fruit: The ovoid follicle is up to 10mm (?in) wide with a thick pericarp and contain smooth oblong seeds to 9mm (?in) long with recurved margins and bordered with a waxy wing. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
