Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media and place in a protected environment until germination occurs.
Botanic information
Leaf: The elliptical leaves have 5 to 7 sharp lobed towards the apex and the base is cuneate. The upper leaves may have an entire margin and are almost sessile.
Flower: The radiate flowers have purplish-blue ray florets that are up to 7mm (¥in) long and normally yellow male disk florets are tubular. The inflorescence is held above the foliage on a thickish pubescent scape that appears from late spring to early summer.
Fruit: The slender fruit has 4 to 5 unequal awns that are barbed at the top.
