Note:
There are many cultivars available with varying heights and flower colour. All require perfectly drained, moist soils and tolerate a light fertilising with native plant food during the growing season.
Botanic information
Leaf: The long linearleaves are shiny mid-green to yellowish at the tipsand arch down towards the ground.
Flower: The woolly tubulate flowers have fused calyx and corolla with 6-pointed lobes on one side. They are arranged in a terminal raceme that is held above the foliage on a slender terete scape. There are many cultivars available in a variety of colours including reds or greens, yellows and shades of orange and appear from spring to summer.
Fruit: The fruit is a 3-celled capsule and the small seeds are not normally seen. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively in order to maintain true to type.
