Surface sow fresh seed and prick out when large enough to handle. Maintain a warm humid environment.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a site, allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous invasive roots that can lift concrete and block drains


Botanic information
Leaf: The tiny triangular scale leaves are arranged in rings of 6 to 8 on blackish green pendulous cladodes that have fine striations.

Flower: The staminate male flowers appear in a catkin-like spike that is up to 20mm (µin) long andappear at the end of the pendulous branches. The female flowers have no perianth segments and appear on 2-year old wood sometimes on the same plant but normally dioecious during autumn.

Fruit: The woody ovoid to cylindrical cone-like fruit is up to 20 mm (µ in) wide and contains numerous seeds. It has a blunt apex and the angular valves are exserted giving it a rough texture.
