Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in a prepared bed.
Divide the clump (rhizome) during early spring while dormant.
Botanic information
Leaf: The mid green pinnate leaves have elliptical mid green leaflets that are deeply serrated with an acute apex. The long petiole is sheaved at the base.
Flower: The small yellow crateriform flowers are arranged in a terminal raceme that is held above the foliage on a tall leafy stem during late spring.
Fruit: The reddish fruit has hooked bristles, which attach to clothing or animal fur for dispersal. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
