Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn and flowers appear 6 to 7 years from seed.

Divide the clump and young plants need protection from frost and semi shade position.

Botanic information
Leaf: The large leathery textured leaves are linear to lanceolate and are upright to arching. The apex tapers to a point and the the leaves tend to arch outwards with age.

Flower: The tubulate flowers have 6-rich red to white perianth segments and 6-spreading stamens. They are arranged in a spike that is clustered towards the end of the 4m (12ft) long arching scape that appears from the centre of the plant from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The woody 3-celled capsule splits when ripe and releases flat slightly winged seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
