Propagation
Take hardwood and softwood cuttings from spring to summer. Flowering stems should be used at a length of 200 mm (7µ in) and remove all but two leaves.

The plant may be layered during the growing season and selected varieties can be budded onto rootstocks.

Culture
It can be deciduous in cold climates and tolerates a wide range of climate zones.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy dark green imparipinnate leaves have 3 to 5 elliptical to ovate leaflets that are up to 50mm (2in) long. The apex is acute to obtuse and the margins are finely serrated.

Flower: The small profuseyellow or white rotate flowers have 5-petals and the numerous stamens are inserted on the disk. They are arranged in axillary corymband appear from spring to summer.

Fruit: The fruit is called 'hips', small apple shape, and are yellow to red in colour. The size of the fruit depends on the cultivar.
