Surface sow fresh seeds in flats and prick out when large enough to handle.

Take semi-hardwood cuttings in autumn of better varieties.

This plant is resistantto Phytophthora cinnamomi.

Care should be taken when selecting a site allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The stiff pointed grey-green leaves are narrow-lanceolate to linear and are crowded along the branchlets.

Flower: The sweetly scented (mild honey fragrance) cyatiform flowers have bundles of stamens that are up to 20mm (΅in)long. They are arranged in dense spike that is up to 30mm (1₯in)long and appear at the end of the branches during late spring.

Generally Melaleucaspecies have small flowers that consist of a calyx tube that is lobed at the top. The small oval petals are up to 3mm (?in) long and normally insignificant. These are arranged in a cup-shape that is filled with numerous bundles of long filaments that fan out, with a thick central style that is slightly longer.

Fruit: The greyish woody capsules are cylindrical and have enclosed valves.They release numerous fine seeds and the fruit is persistent on the plant.The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
