Propagation
Pre-soak the seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º to 64ºF) for 24 hours and they may require scarification. Sow the seed during early spring.


Botanic information
Leaf: The imparipinnate leaves are composed of 5 to 11 pairs of oblong leaflets that are up to 180mm (7in) long. They have an acuminate apex that curved downwards and a very short petiole.

Flower: The tubulate flowers have 4 to 5 petals that form a tube up to 100mm (4in) long that flares at the apex and has slightly longer exserted stamens with yellow anthers. They are arranged densely in a globose pendant spike that is up to 250mm (10in) wide with up to 50 blooms and appear during spring.

Fruit: The pendant flat woody pod is constructed in the middle and has a pointed tail-like apex. It contains several hard seeds.
