Propagation
Divide the rhizomes in to lengths and plant upward with bottom heat and keep moist. Place spores on sterilised sphagnum moss or peat moss and cover with glass and keep moist. In 4 to 6 weeks the prothallus appears.
Culture
This genus of ferns prefers weak indirect light.
Temperatures ranging from 10ºC to 25ºC
Use potting mix with added compost, keep moist and fertilise very lightly (half strength) and mulch with leaf-mould.
Botanic information
Leaf: The green to variegated pinnate fronds have uneven narrow lobes (segments) with irregularly toothed margins.
Flower: The erect fertile fronds are narrow with a toothed apex and the sporangia are arranged in a continuous elongated sorus along the margins and appear during late summer.
Fruit: The spores are produced in the sporangium during the sporophyte stage of the fern life cycle in rows on the back of the fertile frond. The spores are very small (like fine dust) and are released from the sori when mature and dispersed by wind or water.
