Propagation
Sow seeds when ripe as the viability period is short in a well-drained media and keep them warm and moist. The seeds germinate within 8 weeks and pot up into deep containers to allow for the vigorous growth.
Botanic information
Leaf: The costapalmate fronds are divided up to half way to the basewith pointed glossy green segments.The margins have white threads when young but none appear on mature leaves and the armed petiole is up to 1.2 m (4 ft) long and is reddish-brown at the base.
Flower: The fleshly coloured flowers are arranged in a pendant panicle that arises from leaf bases below crown. It is up to 2m (6ft) long with pale brown bracts and appears during summer.
Fruit: The spherical, green to dark brown pea size berries are produced in large numbers in a pendant cluster.
