Propagation
Sow fresh seed as the viable is only 8 to 16 weeks but normally germinates within 12 weeks. Place in a world drained media and keep moist with bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The pinnate fronds are arching and have narrow lanceolate leaflets that are even, tapering to a point. The leaflets are green both sides with some large brown scales are on underside veins. The bright green to purplish crown shaft it up to 600 mm (2 ft) long.
Flower: The branched inflorescence appears under the crown shaft and is enclosed in large bracts up to 400 mm (16 in) long andfall away as flowering commences. The 2-male and 1-female flowers are arranged spirally on the branchlets and have 3-petals and sepals.
In tropical regions the flowering period varies and may appear at any time of the year.
Note
The female flowers have imbricate petals and 3-sterial stamens.
Fruit: The ellipsoid drupe has a thin fleshy mesocarp that has interlocking fibres. The seeds are globular and the endosperm is ruminate.
