Propagation
Pre-soak the seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours prior to sowing during early spring. The seeds may require scarification.
General pruning information
These plants tolerate a light prune to a node normally after flowering. Do not prune into old wood as it will not regenerate and if the plant has become leggy and woody it will not regenerate after a hard prune. It requires replacement.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are broad oblong to rounded with wavy prickly toothed margins and become yellowish towards the base. They are persistent on the plant with the colour varying from red to yellow throughout the seasons.
Flower: The small tubulate flowers are arranged in an axillaryraceme that appears during late spring.
Fruit: The hard woody follicle contains viable seeds.
