Botanic information
Leaf: The leathery dark green leaves are broad ovate to cordate and are deeply notched base. The apex is acuminate and the upper surface has prominent veins. When young the leaves are bronze-coloured then mature to dark green and turn yellow during autumn before falling.

Flower: The bright rosy-pink papillionate flowers are arranged in a cluster of 3-6 along the younger shoots and older wood. The flowers appear with the leaves and persist together during spring.

Fruit: The flattened pods are elongated and are reddish turning light brown. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
The many colourful hanging pods are a feature of this tree.
