Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in pots or trays and in cold climates place in a cold frame to germinate. The seed takes up to 2 months to germinate.
Take semi-hardwood tip cuttings during summer and apply bottom heat.
Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened pointed scale leaves are compressed along the branchlets in 2-ranks on the same plane. They have a pointed apex and are triangular in shape.
Flower: The male strobili are oblong up to 7mm (¥in) longand the female cone is up to 12mm (½ in) long. Both appear on the same tree during spring.
Fruit: The solitary female woody cone has 4-scales that contain 1 to 2 winged seeds per scale. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
