Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow them in spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).

Take cuttings during late autumn and the cuttings are not easy to strike.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a site allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The short bluish green scale leaves are closely pressed along the stems and arranged oppositely or in whorls. The leaves have faded lines and glands on the underside and are strongly scented when crushed.

Flower: The male cones are crimson and appear abundantly at end of small twigs all over the tree and the small female cones are 5mm (¥in) long and are slate blue, turning green and both aappear during spring.

Fruit: The globular cones are woody with 8 wrinkled scales that ripen in the first year. They are glaucous green, turning brown and the seeds are oblong and appressed with a broad wing. There are 2 to 5 seeds per scale. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
