Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to lanceolate with an acuminate apex and a petiole to 20mm (µin) long. During late winter the mid green leaves turn orange-salmon colour and many fall at this time.
Flower: The small white funnelform flowers have 5-expanded petals and are arranged densely in an axillary pendant raceme that is up to 100mm (4in) long and appears, towards the end of the branches during summer.
Fruit: The drupe contains 2 to 4 seeds and the fruit is not normally produced in cool climates. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
