Propagation
Fresh seed is germinated under glasshouse conditions and should be protect from strong light in early stages. Pot on or plant directly to the beds at 200mm to 300mm (1 ft) intervals depending on variety. It takes 5 months to produce flowers from seed.
Botanic information
Leaf: The soft textured dark green leaves have a cordate base with obvious venation on the upper surface and the margin is irregularly toothed.
Flower: The showy radiate (daisy-like) flower heads have 12 to 15 ray-florets and appear in a terminal corymb that is up to 300mm (12in) in diameter during spring.
Fruit: The seeds are small with about 4,000 per gram.
