Propagation
Sow fresh seed in a container and place in a protected position. Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into pots or directly into a prepared bed.

Culture
It will tolerate an open sunny position with enough moisture but the soil must be well drained. However, they are not allowed to dry out.

If the soil is enriched with organic matter the plant will flourish and form thick feeding roots. When the plant is burnt back the lignotuber will form new shoots and the plant will recover. Young plants require protection by surrounding foliage and a mulching with leaf mould.
