Propagation
Before slowing in early spring pre-soak fresh seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
This plant is resistantto Phytophthora cinnamomi.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bipinnate phyllodes have up to 12-pairs of pinnate leaflets that are composed of linear segments that are 10mm (¥in) long and pale green on the underside. The phyllodes are bright green when young turning dark green with age.
Flower: The tiny bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals with prominentstamens. The flower heads are arranged in a terminal cluster that is up to 60mm (2½in long and has up to 30 blooms. They appear during spring.
Fruit: The flattened pod contains and numerous hard black seeds.
General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
