Propagation
Sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media and maintain a moist humid environment. Prick out and cull for the best leaf forms.


Botanic information
Leaf: The dark green leaves are very variable from oblanceolate to narrow lanceolate with an entire to undulate margina and an obtuse apex. The cultivar 'Purpurea' has purplish leaves and obtains the best colour in a full sun position.

Flower: The small campanulate flowers have 5-petals and 5-sepals and are arranged in a terminal panicle that appears from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The 3-6 celled capsules has 3 wings that are mid-green ripening to purple-red and is an attractive feature of the plant.
