Propagation
Sow fresh seed during early spring or when they are available, in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate. Pre-soak the seeds in heated water 13º to 18ºC (55º-64ºF) for 24 hours. Seeds may require scarification.
Take cuttings during the growing period.
General information on pruning Acacia species
Tolerates a light prune after flowering back to a node, remove any dead wood back to the collar. If there is insufficient light towards the base of the tree prune the crown to allow the light in. The plants tend to be easily damaged by wind or borers, and damaged material should be removed.
Botanic information
Leaf: The blue-green linear phyllodes have a thickened margin with a single vein tapering at the base and are curved broad to narrow in width. They have small glands at the base and occasionally at the tips.
Flower: The bisexual tubulate flowers have inconspicuous sepals and petals and prominentstamens. There are 6 to 10 blooms arranged in a terminal raceme that has a short smooth stalk that is up to 5mm (1/4in) long and appear sporadically from autumn to spring.
Fruit: The brown pods have thick margins and some constriction around the seeds. The black seeds lay across the pod and have a short seed stalk. The seeds germinate after low intensity fire in its native setting.
