Propagation
Before sowing stratified fresh seeds for up to 90 days.

Take cuttings during the growing period and placed them on a misting bench.

Culture
Care should be taken when planting, as it produces a strong root system that can blocks drains and cracks foundations.
The tree is naturally grows around swamps tolerating wet soils but grows equally well in drier soil types.


Botanic information
Leaf: The flattened sessile linear leaves arranged alternately in even rows along the alternately arranged branchlets. The foliage turns red-brown in autumn then sheds the twigs not the individual leaf. The small buds are imbricate with pointed scales.

Flower: The tree is monoecious. Male cones are tassel-like catkins and are green turning purplish in groups of 2-3 in a panicle up to 150mm (6in) long. The female cones are little green balls of bracts and scales. Buds appear beneath the petiole.

Fruit: The short stalked cones are globular with a few scales that have thickened edges. It is green ripening to purplish-brown, resinous when young and occurs on the preceding year`s wood. The triangular shaped seed is up to 12mm (½in) long.
