Propagation
Sow fresh seed when ripe in pots and plant half the seed in the soil with the point down. Keep moist and warm until germination occurs.


Botanic information
Leaf: The pointed juvenile leaves are narrow awl-shaped up to 20mm (µin) long and the adult leaves are simular but shorter and curved. They appear towards the end of branches and are closely packed.

Flower: The male and female strobili appear on the same tree. The yellowish male cylindrical catkins are up to 76mm (3 in) long and appear at the end of the branchlets in tightly packed scales. The ovoid female cones borne on short shoots and are composed of several bracts, appearing during early summer.

Fruit: The cones are oval to globular 100mm x 70mm (2? in) wide appearing numerously over the tree. They have overlapping wedge shaped woody-winged scales and ripen during summer then breaking up and releasing the papery seeds.
