Propagation
Sow fresh seeds when ripe in containers and place in a cold frame to germinate.

Take semi-hardwood or hard wood cuttings during autumn.

Note:
Care should be taken when selecting a sight allowing ample room for it to grow as it has vigorous roots that can lift concrete and block drains.


Botanic information
Leaf: The glossy scale leaves are flattened with an acuminate apex and have faint white stomatic bands on the underside. They are arranged in downward facing sprays and when the foliage is crushed it expels a strong tangy aroma.

Flower: The inconspicuous dark red male strobili turn pale yellow when releasing pollen and are found on the tips of the branchlets. The female strobili are a yellowish-green and both appear during spring.

Fruit: The oblong cones are produced on short stems they are leathery in texture with 10 to 12 scales and released winged seeds. The cones are more commonly found in cooler climates. The seeds are viable but the plant may be reproduced vegetatively.
