Botanic information
Leaf: The obtuse scale leaves have white stomatic 'X' and 'Y'-shaped markings on the underside. They are closely pressed along the stems and are bluntly tipped. The branchlets are flattened with the tips turned back and the foliage has a sweet resinous sent when crushed.

Flower: The tiny pale brownish male cones realease pollen during spring and fertilise the bluish female strobilus that appear on the shoot tips.

Fruit: The globose cones are short stalked, green turning reddish brown with 8-scales that are centrally ridged. There are 2 to 5 narrow triangular-shaped seeds per scale and have a membranous wing. The tree is more productive in cooler temperate climates and the seeds are viable but the plant can be reproduced vegetatively.
