Sow fresh seed during autumn and plant the seed half in the soil with pointed end downwards. Keep warm and moist.

Botanic information
Leaf: The juvenile leaves are ovate to 50mm (2in) long. The stiff sessile adult leaves are awl to lanceolate with a sharply acuminate apex and slightly curved.

Flower: The pedant male strobili are arranged at the end of short lateral branches and are cylindrical up to 200mm (8in) long. The spherical female cone has numerous pointed bracts and grows to 300mm (1ft) in diameter. They appear from late spring to early summer.

Fruit: The large cone is up to 4kg in weight. There is a single seed per scale and the 50mm (2in) long seed is winged and united with the cone. Local Aboriginal tribes eat the seeds and particular trees are passed from generation to generation.
