This plant is regarded as a weedin many regions as it can self-sow readily and is discouraged from use in gardens.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are narrow elliptical to obovate with a mucronate apex. The dark green upper surface has raised venation and the underside is covered in whitish tomentose.
Note
The buds are usually appressed, imbricate and brown to pale-grey in colour. The 2 outer bud scales are slightly opened, revealing the pubescent interior..
Flower: There are up to 60 small white crateriform flowers that are arranged in a dense corymb that is up to 75mm (3in) wide and appear in upper leaf axils during early summer.
Fruit: The pendant berry-like pome forms is arranged in large clusters of 35 to 65 and is persistent on the plant and is regarded as a feature of the plant.
