Propagation
Surface sow fresh seeds during winter in flats and cover with sifted peat. Prick out when large enough to handle and the plant takes 14 to 16 weeks to flower. Plant out with a spacing of 200mm (7΅ in) apart.
Botanic information
Leaf: The purplish-green broad obovate to narrow lanceolate leaves are irregularly toothed.
Flower: The salverform flowers have 5-linear lobes that are 5mm (₯in)long with 3-large lower lobes and 2-smaller upper. They are arranged in a loose raceme that is up to 50mm (2in) long and appears from early spring to early summer.
Fruit: The small capsule contains numerous seeds and there are up to30,000 seeds per gram.
