Propagation
Stratify fresh seeds for 2 to 3 months at 5º C (41ºF) then sow in spring and maintain a temperature of 19º to 27º C. (66º to 81º F).

Seeds may be sown directly into the ground or in containers.
Greenwood cuttings taken during early summer and dipped into hormone powder, then placed in a well-drained media.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are ovate to narrow obovate up to 60 mm (2? in) wide with an acuminate apex and forward facing serrations along the margin. The petiole is up to 20mm (µin) long with feathery stipules and theleaves turn yellow then crimson during autumn.

Flower: The weeping campanulate flowers have long pedicles up to 20mm (µin) and are arranged in groups of 2 to 6 on a peduncle up to 40mm (1½in) long, developing on the new wood.Buds may be damaged by heavy frost. They appear during early spring.

Fruit: The ovoid fleshy drupe is green turning bright red. The fruit is more commonly seen in cool climates and the seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
