Propagation
Surface sow fresh seed during spring in a well-drained media, and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F). Prick out and pot up when they are large enough to handle.
Take semi-hardwood cuttings during spring to autumn and kept in a humid environment.
General pruning information
This plant does not regenerate from a hard prune into old wood but respond from a light trim directly after flowering.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are lanceolate to oblong with an abrupt acuminate apex. The texture is leathery and the leaf surface is dotted in transparent oil glands. New growth is reddish becoming dark green with age.
Flower: The rotate flowers have 5-petals with a smooth calyx and the stamens are in bundles of 5 to 9. The pink to red flower appear solitary during summer with some cultivars producing double flowers.
Fruit: The woody urn-shaped capsule is persistent on the plant but the tiny seeds are not retained. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
