Propagation
Sow fresh seed and scarify by soaking in warm water for 24 hours and or nicking seed coat. Maintain 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Take semi-hardwood cuttings during summer which root quickly but care should be taken not to disturb the roots when potting up.
It is resistantto Phytophthora cinnamomiand the foliage may cause skin irritations so care should be taken when pruning.
Botanic information
Leaf: The bipinnatisect leaves are up to 150mm (6in) wide with 11 to 23-oblong segments that are also divided. The underside is pubescent, silky silvery colour and the leaves are shed predominantly just before flowering.
Flower: The small tubulate flowers are arranged in a panicle composed of 3 to 5 racemes that are axillary or terminal. There are up to 80 flowers with styles are looped at first then straighten out and are arranged in a raceme that appears from spring to early summer.
Fruit: The ovoid fruit is up to 10mm (?in) wide with a thin smooth pericarp and a persistent style. It contains flat oval seeds up to 12mm (½in) long that are bordered by a thin wing. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
