Propagation
Take hardwood cuttings during winter.

Felled trees take root on the ground where they touch the soil.
Large branches may also be used as cuttings.

Sow fresh seed during spring and pre-soak them for 24 hours.


Botanic information
Leaf: The bright green trifolilate leaves are large, up to 250mm (10in) wide and are composed of 3-ovate leaflets that turn yellow-brown during early winter.

Flower: The crimson papillionate flowers have prominent exserted stamens and 5-petals with a long standard. They are arranged in terminal racemes with up to 100 blooms and commonly appear on a leafless tree during early spring.

Fruit: The flat to cylindrical woody legume is slightly constricted between the seeds. The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
