Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate and maintain a temperature of 16º to 18º C. (61º to 64º F).
Graft on to seedling root stock during spring.
Botanic information
Leaf: The lanceolate leaves have a margin that is entire to deeply lobed with a short petiole and an acute apex. Younger leaves are lighter colour and are covered in a bronze down.
Flower: The tubulate flowers have no petals and the 4-sepals that are petal-like and form a tube. The flowers are arranged in an circular umbel like spokes in a wheel, up to 100mm (4in) in diameter and appear in the upper leaf axils. They are often partly obscured by leaves and appear during late summer.
Fruit: The woody follicle contains the numerous viable seeds.
