Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings during summer and autumn.
Take hardwood cuttings in late winter.
Graft Hawaiian cultivars onto an ordinary rootstock.
Botanic information
Leaf: The broad variable ovate leaves up to 120mm (4µin)wide and the margin is crenate, dentate to entire. The apex is acute and the petiole is short.
Flower: The funnelform flowers are arranged solitary or in a terminal spike and have 5-overlapping petals with a central column of fused stamens. There are no blue and mauve coloured flowers and they appear throughout summer.
Fruit: It has a small woody capsule that contains numerous seeds. The small seed is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively to maintain true to type.
