Propagation
Sow ripe seeds in situ or in a container and place outside. Take soft tip cutting of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings during late summer. Place on the misting bench until rooted.
Take care as excessive moisture is detrimental to the cuttings.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are elliptical to lanceolate with a finely serrated margin and are paler beneath. The underside of the leaf is pubescent and paler in colour and the greyish-green buds are naked and consist of two pubescent scales.
Flower: The sweetly scented 4-petalled salverform flowers are purple to mauve with an orange throat. They are arranged in upright or nodding conical panicle that is up to 200mm (8in) long and appear during summer.
Fruit: The small brown capsule consists of two valves. The seed is not commonly used and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
