Propagation
Sow seed when ripe in a well-drained media and keep moist. It may take up to 7 years from seedling to a flowering sapling.

Grafted plants will flower within 3 to 4 years.


Botanic information
Leaf: The ovate mid green leaves have undulating margins and an acute apex. The upper surface has dot size glands which can be seen when held to the light. The tree may be semi-deciduous for short periods (2-4 weeks).      

Flower: The light pink stellate flowers have a reddish centre and arearrangedin a denseterminal paniclethat is held just above the foliage during spring.

Fruit: The globular spiny capsule has 5-valves. It looks like a European Chestnut and has shiny black seeds that monkeys and parrots feed on in its native habitat.
