Propagation
Take semi hardwood cuttings during the growing period and place in a well-drained moist media.

Self layered stems may be severed and potted up.
Carry out root division with a stem during spring.

Botanic information
Leaf: The small broad-obcordate leaves have an obtuse apex and a short petiole and appear in pairs along the slender branchlets. In cold regions the plant is deciduous.

Flower: The whitish-green flowers have 5-sepals and no petals and are arranged on a short spike that appears during summer. The male and female flowers appear on different plants (dioeciousand are not a feature of the plant.

Fruit: The fruit is an angular glossy black nut-like achene that is enclosed in the perianth and the seeds have abundant endosperm. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
