Propagation
Sow fresh seed during autumn in a prepared bed or in pots and place in a cold frame to germinate.
Take soft tip cuttings of non-flowering shoots during late spring and semi hardwood cuttings taken during late summer.
Layering during the growing period.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are broad ovate to oval and is stellate pubescent on both sides and has an acute apex. The petiole is up to 12mm (½in) long and the leaf turns purplish-red during autumn. The buds are naked and leafy, slightly pubescent.
Flower: The sweetly fragrant salverform flowers are arranged in a domed terminal corymb up to 75mm (3in) wide, with pink buds opening to a snow-white flower. The flower buds are up to 12mm (½in) wide and appear during spring.
Fruit: The one seeded berry-like drupe is red turning to black when mature during autumn and persists on the plant into winter. The small seeds are viable but the plant can be easily reproduced vegetatively.
