Propagation
Sow fresh seeds when ripe and it can take up to 10 years before flowering from a seedling.

Grafted plants flower within three years.


Botanic information
Leaf: The bipinnate leaves are composed of narrow elliptical leaflets that are up to 15mm (µin)long and are green turning yellow when falling during late winter, just before the flowering period. The new foliage is produced in early summer.

Flower: The faintly scented 5-lobed campanulate flowers are arranged in a terminal panicle that is up to 300mm (1ft) long and appear on leafless branches during late spring.
'Alba', has white flowers with 5-lobes at the mouth.

Fruit: The woody fruit is green turning brown when mature realising numerous winged seeds that are very viable.
