Propagation
Take semi hardwood cuttings during autumn to winter.
Sow fresh seeds during spring but generally the seedlings are of poorer quality. The seeds may require scarification (peeling treatment).
Culture
This plant tolerates sandy to clay soils and may be tip prune to thicken or pruned hard to rejuvenate an old plant. Once established this plant requires little maintenance, but must have reliable moisture.
Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are imparipinnate with 7 to 9-oblanceolate to obovate leaflets that are up to 15 mm wide. The apex is abruptly acuminate in the leaflets that are pale green when young maturing to dark glossy green. During dry periods the plant will shed leaves.
Flower: The strongly perfumed funnelform flowers have recurved petals and are arranged in corymbose panicle that consists of 10 to 20 flowers. The main flowering period is mid to late spring and the plants commonly flower again during early autumn.
Fruit: The oval fruit changes from green to bright crimson when ripe from winter to early spring. The small seeds are viable but the plant is commonly reproduced vegetatively.
