Propagation
Take soft tip or semi hardwood cuttings up to 100 mm (4in) long during spring and autumn. Root up in sand and peat mix and keep moist but not wet.
Botanic information
Leaf: The reniform leaves are variable but generally the margins are undulating, shallowly lobed or toothed up to 127 mm (5 in) wide. The upper surface may have dark or light concentric rings or blotches and both the long petiole and the leaf is softly pubescent with a succulent texture.
Flower: Generally the funnelform to rotate flowers have 5-expanded obovate-spathulate petals that are coloured at the base. There are single, semi-double and doubles that are arranged in a terminal umbel held out from the foliage on a slender scape.
They are avalable in a wide colour range from white, pink, scarlet, magenta, orange, or crimson and appear from spring to early summer, with sporadic flowering throughout the rest of the year.
Fruit: The dry fruit is a schizocarp containing multiple carpelsand is indehiscent. The tiny seedsare dispersed by wind.The small seeds are viable but the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively, to maintain true to type.
