Propagation
Take hardwood cuttings during late autumn and placed in a well drained moist media.


Botanic information
Leaf: The leaves are broad ovate to rhomboidal with a truncate base and an acuminate apex. The petiole is slender and flattened up to 60mm (2¥in) long and the leaf is glabrous and pale green on the underside,turning golden colour in autumn.

Flower: The flowers are dioecious, solitary inserted on the disk and accompanied by a bract. The reddish male flowers have up to 20-stamens and the greenish female has a single pistil, in a pendulous catkin up to 70mm (2½in) long appear with new foliage.

Fruit: The dehiscent capsule has 2-valves and contains brown seeds that are covered in cotton-like hairs. The fruit is not commonly seen and the plant is normally reproduced vegetatively.
var. Italica is a male clone and is only propagated by cuttings.
